Conclusion

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is a powerful, historic and influential international organization. As such, it should be embraced, supported and encouraged, by everyone and indeed not resisted. On Sunday, the Egyptian OIC officially welcomed the newly-elected Ethiopian president, Dr Mulatu Teshome, in Addis Ababa. In a historic moment, the Egyptian presidency of OIC symbolizes the rise of Ethiopia and Africa as a global power that will play an essential role in the future of the organization and the world as a whole. Dr Mulatu Teshome comes from a humble background and is the second living African to head OIC. The first was Ahmad Taj El-Din. He was the President of Indonesia between 1978 and 1992. He has also visited some neighbouring Muslim countries.
