KVG Bank adjudged Best Regional Rural Bank by ASSOCHAM
- In recognition of its initiatives in Digital Financial Services in response to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, KVG Bank has been adjudged Best Regional Rural Bank under ‘Regional Rural Banks Category’ by ASSOCHAM, Mumbai.
- RBI Regional Director R. Gurumurthy handed over the award to KVG Bank Chairman P. Gopi Krishna in Nov’21.
- ASSOCHAM stands for Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India.
M Mukundan wins 2021 JCB Prize for Literature for his novel
- M Mukundan’s ‘Delhi: A Soliloquy’, translated from Malayalam by Fathima EV and Nandakumar K, has won of the JCB Prize for Literature,
- This is the third win for a Malayalam translation since the award’s first edition in 2018, the earlier being “Jasmine Days” (2018) by Benyamin and S Hareesh’s “Moustache” (2020).
- Mukundan won a trophy titled ‘Mirror Melting’ and a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.
BharatPe launches Merchant Shareholding Program
- BharatPe has announced the launch of the Merchant Shareholding Program (MSP) for its merchant partners.
- The company will be rolling out this program to its 7.5 million+ existing merchant partners and extend this to new merchants who join it.
- It plans to create an equity pool structure worth upto $100 mn for MSP to be allotted to eligible merchants over the course of the next 4 years.
Vihan and Nav win International Children’s Peace Prize
- Two Indian teenage brothers have won the 2021 KidsRights International Children’s Peace Prize for tackling pollution from household waste.
- Vihaan and Nav Agarwal have developed the “One Step Greener” initiative segregating recyclables and organizing pickups for trash from thousands of homes.
- Indian Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi presented the prize to them in The Hague in Nov’21.
Indian Navy commissions INS Visakhapatnam on 21 November 2021

BRO bags Guinness World Record for constructing a highest motorable road
- Border Road Organisation (BRO) of India has received the Guinness World Records Certificate.
- It has received it for constructing and blacktopping the world’s highest motorable road at 19,024 feet at Umlingla Pass in Ladakh.
- The BRO provided a blacktopped road to the village of Demchok in Eastern Ladakh that will enhance the socio-economic conditions and promote tourism in Ladakh.
Maharashtra signs MoU with Rocky Mountain Institute- India
- The Maharashtra govt has signed an MoU with the Indian arm of the USA-based Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI).
- RMI India will provide technical support for the implementation of the state’s recently launched EV Policy.
- The MoU was signed in Glasgow amid the ongoing COP26 summit.
- Maharashtra’s new draft EV Policy 2021 aims to bring at least 146,000 battery-operated EVs on roads by 2025.
Beryl Thanga receives Manipur State Award for his novel
- Novelist Beryl Thanga alias Laishram Biramangol Singh received the 12th Manipur State Award for Literature 2020 for his book – Ei Amadi Adungeigi Ithat’ (I and the then island), in November 2021.
