AFACT is Air Force Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Force at the National level. AFCAT will be conducted twice in the year for the recruitment of Flying Branch, Technical Branch, and Ground Duty Staff under the Indian Air Force. After the written test (AFCAT) result candidates are shortlisted based on the fixed cutoff for the further interview or personality test. The personality test will be conducted for 6 days with two stages of intelligence test, Psychological test, Group tasks, and Personal Interview. For all the three branches in the Air Force, both men and women can apply. While for Women Short Service Commission will be offered, for men both Short Service Commission and Permanent service will be offered. An individual can have a maximum of 16 attempts (2 attempts per year) while a total of 8 attempts for AFCAT written and 8 attempts through fast track selection entry.

Pay Scale for AFCAT 2021 for Officers
- Pay on Commissioning (As per 7th CPC)

- Flight Cadets shall receive a fixed stipend of Rs 56,100/- per month during one year of training.

Eligibility Criteria for AFCAT 2021
AFCAT 2021 Educational Qualification
For Flying Branch:
- Minimum of 60% marks each in Maths & Physics at 10+2 level.
- Graduates (Three Year Course) in any discipline from a recognised University who have attained minimum 60% marks or equivalent OR
- BE/B Tech (Four Year Course) from a recognised university with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
- Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
For Ground Duty (Technical):
Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics)/(Mechanical):
- Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University
- OR cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India)
For Ground Duty (Non-Technical)
Administration
- Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Education:

Meteorology:
- Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Geography/ Computer Applications/ Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography/ Meteorology/ Agricultural Meteorology/ Ecology & Environment/ Geophysics/ Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks
For NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch):
- Minimum 60% marks in each in Maths & Physics at 10 + 2 level.
Graduate (Three Year Course) in any discipline from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent. (OR) - BE/B Tech (Four Year Course) from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent(OR)
- Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
- Final Year/semester students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any present backlogs at the time of AFSB Testing and produce Degree certificate issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.
- NCC Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ certificate and validity of the certificate would be two years before the date of advertisement.
Note: Candidates who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and are yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks upto the last semester/year for which results have been declared upto the time of submission of application.
AFCAT 2021 Physical Fitness Test:
- Candidates should aim to achieve an ability to run 01 miles (1.6 km) in 10 mins, do 10 pushups, and 03 chin-ups.
- Prospective candidates are also advised to keep themselves in good physical condition to adapt to physical training at AFA which encompasses running, swimming, rope climbing, and other forms of physical training/ conditioning in which they would undergo mandatory tests during training.
Age Limit for AFCAT 2021
(i) Flying Branch. 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2021 i.e. born between 02 January 1997 to 01 January 2001 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 January 1995 to 01 January 2001 (both dates inclusive).
(ii)Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches. 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2021 i.e. born between 02 January 1995 to 01 January 2001 (both dates Inclusive).
Note: Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Widows/Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also not eligible.

Selection Process for AFCAT 2021
Indian Air Force will send call letters to all the candidates who clear the AFCAT/EKT 2020 to appear for the second stage of selection i.e AFSB Testing.
AFSB Testing Stage 1
It includes the following two tests:
- Officer Intelligence Rating Test.
- Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP&DT)
Stage 1 is called screening test and candidates who do not clear it will be rejected and will not be called for AFSB Testing Stage 2.
AFSB Testing Stage 2
All Stage 1 qualified candidates will have to appear for AFSB Stage 2 and undergo the following tests:
- Psychological Tests: These are the written psychological tests and are conducted by professional psychologists.
- Group Tests: These tests involve mental and physical activities to examine the candidates’ on various mental and physical parameters.
- AFSB Interview: In this round, the interviewing officer takes a personal round of interview for the candidate.
- Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test: This test is mandatory for only those candidates who have applied for the Flying Branch.
Medical Examination
Recommended candidates will be called for the medical examination. The Indian Airforce has prescribed only two centers for Medical Examination which are the Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru, and Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME). After the medical examination, a final merit list would be prepared on the basis of the marks scored by the candidate in written and AFSB Interview. All the shortlisted candidates would be given the joining letter of the respective training academies they have applied to.
AFCAT 2021 Exam Pattern
- The Exam will be conducted through online mode.
- There will be 100 questions of 300 marks.
- The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
- 3 marks will be given for every correct answer and 1 mark will be subtracted for every incorrect answer.

AFCAT Syllabus: EKT Syllabus
AFCAT EKT is a 45 minute exam and is followed by AFCAT. Candidates are given half an hour window after which AFCAT EKT Exam takes place. The total duration for AFCAT exam is 2 hours and the mode of examination is online.

Registration

AFCAT 2021 Training
Training will commence in the first week of Jan 2022 for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal (Hyderabad). The duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments. PAN Card and account in SBI/ Nationalised Bank is mandatory at the time of joining Air Force Academy. Aadhaar Card is mandatory for registration.
AFCAT 2021 Admit Card
- The AFCAT 2021 admit card will be issued at least 10 days before the exam date.
- The AFACT admit card 2021 to the aspirants will not be sent via post.
- To download the admit card, the aspirants should submit the application number, date of birth/password.
- Do not forget to carry an admit card to the examination hall along with the ID Proof.
- The aspirants are suggested to keep the AFCAT 2021 admit card safe with them for future reference.
AFCAT 2021 Result
To know the result, the aspirants are requested to be tuned to the official website or stay tuned with us till the end. For checking the result, the aspirants will need to provide their registration id and password. Those, who will pass the exam and shortlisted after the written test, will have to appear for the SSB processor for the interview round.
