A bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related field, such as mechanical engineering or aeronautical engineering, is typically required. Admission to top engineering colleges in India usually involves competitive entrance exams like JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) or state-level engineering entrance exams.
After completing a bachelor’s degree, pursuing a master’s or a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering can open up further opportunities for research, specialization, and senior positions in the aerospace industry.
“The ambit of Aerospace Engineering includes curriculum on satellites, propulsion systems, missile and other allied equipment/systems. The salary of an aerospace engineer in India depends on various factors such as qualifications, experience, location, and the employing organization. On average, a fresh graduate with a bachelor’s degree can expect a starting salary ranging from Rs 4 to 7 lakh per annum. With experience and advanced degrees, this figure can significantly increase, and mid-level engineers can earn between Rs 8 to 15 lakh per annum. Senior aerospace engineers with extensive expertise may earn upwards of Rs 20 lakh per annum or even more in certain cases.
