Education Qualification for SBI PO Recruitment 2020
An applicant needs to have the following academic qualifications to be eligible to write the exam.
- The person wishing to apply needs to have Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
- Those who are in the Final Year/ Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination.
- Candidates possessing qualification of Chartered Accountant may also apply.
Percentage Required in Graduation for the SBI PO Exam

Selection Process and Exam Pattern for SBI PO Recruitment 2020
The recruitment for SBI Probationary Officers is done through a three-tiered process:
Phase I – Preliminary Exam (Prelims) (Online Exam)
Phase II – Main Exam (Mains) (Online Exam)
Phase III – Group Exercises and Personal Interview (Face to Face)
Stage 1: SBI PO Prelims
- The SBI PO Prelims Exam is the first basic round for the candidates to test their general aptitude.
- SBI PO Prelims Exam is an online objective testof 1 hour.
- The Exam consists of 3 sections- English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude.
- There will be no sectional cut-off in the SBI PO Prelims Exam.
- However, there will be an overall cut offset by the bank as per the category of the candidates.
- Candidates numbering 10 times the numbers of vacancies (approx.) in each category will be shortlisted for Main Examination from the top of the above merit list.
Stage 2: SBI PO Mains
- The candidates who clear the SBI PO Pre will be eligible to appear for the SBI PO Mains Exam.
- The SBI PO Mains Exam comprises of Objective Test and Descriptive Test.
- The SBI PO Mains Exam is of 4 sections (English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning & Computers, and General/Economy/Banking Awareness) which will be objective in nature.
- The descriptive test is of 50 marks and is conducted immediately after the objective test.
- Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Main Examination.
- There will be no sectional cut-off.
- Candidates numbering up to 3 times (approx.) of the category wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the Group Exercise & Interview from the top of the category wise merit list subject to a candidate scoring the minimum aggregate qualifying score
Stage 3: SBI PO Group Exercises & Interview
This is the last stage of the selection process. The candidates who have qualified for the SBI Mains Exam will be called to appear for the Interview and Group Exercise. This round holds the utmost importance in deciding the fate of the candidate with respect to the final selection.
The marks obtained in the SBI Mains and Interview are used for the final selection of the candidate as an SBI PO.
SBI PO Final Selection
The marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in GE & Interview (Phase-III) for preparing the final merit list.
Marks secured by the candidates in the Main Examination (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 marks and Group Exercises & Interview scores of candidates (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25 marks.
The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating (out of 100) converted marks of Main Examination and Group Exercises & Interview.

SBI PO Recruitment Exam Pattern
SBI PO Exam Pattern will be covering two phases for online exam, Prelims & Mains. This will be followed by an interview.
SBI PO Exam Pattern For Prelims
- This is the first round of the SBI PO Exam.
- This will have 3 sections where each section will have to be completed in 20 Minutes.
- The total marks of the SBI PO Prelims Exam are 100 Marks while the duration of the exam is 1 Hour.
- One (1) mark is awarded for every correct answer.
- There will be a penalty of 0.25 Marks for every incorrect answer marked by the candidate.
- All the questions will be set bilingually i.e. in English and Hindi, except the English Language.

SBI PO Exam Pattern For Mains
This is the 2nd Stage of the SBI PO Exam. The candidates who will qualify for the Prelims of the SBI PO Exam will be eligible to appear for the SBI PO Mains Exam 2020.
- There will be four sections for the SBI PO Mains Exam and an additional section of the English Language which will be taken separately on the same date of the exam.
- The SBI PO Mains Exam will have a total of 155 MCQ’s of a total duration of 3 Hours.
- There will be separate timing for each section as it was in the SBI PO Mains Exam.
- There will be a penalty of 0.25 Marks for an incorrect answer.
Introduction of Descriptive Test
The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The English Language Paper is to assess the candidates’ writing skills and it is compulsory to pass in this paper by securing a minimum Cut Off by the commission.

SBI PO Interview
Candidates qualifying in the objective and descriptive test will be called for a group exercise & interview.
- The SBI PO Group Exercises will be of 20 marks while the Interview will be of 30 marks. Thus, making it a total of 50 Marks.
- Qualification/ qualifying marks in the group exercise and interview is decided by the Bank. Aggregate marks will decide the qualification after which they will be arranged in descending order in each category.
- Only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in GE & Interview (Phase-III) for preparing the final merit list.
- The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately.
SBI PO Final Scores
The preliminary exam of SBI PO or the Tier 1 is only considered for the selection or qualification into the mains(tier 2) exam.
- Candidates have to qualify for both Prelims & Mains round. Phase 2 and the Interview round will be deciding the final selection.
- Only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in GE & Interview (Phase-III) for preparing the final merit list.

SBI PO 2020 Preparation
Can I crack SBI PO in the first attempt?
Yes, you can.
SBI PO Preparation requires deep understating of each of the question types is given in the syllabus and then consequently practicing a wide variety of each of these types using the right approach.
SBI PO exam requires one to have the basics of each of the sections viz. English Language, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude crystal clear, and then applying these basics while solving questions asked.
SBI PO Prelims exam requires a candidate to solve maximum questions (speed) with accuracy under the sectional time given.
This requires a lot of practice on the part of a candidate to be able to develop speed. On the other hand, the questions asked in the Mains Exam are concept-based, calculative or both.
The difficulty level of the questions asked is also a notch higher in the Main Exam.

How to apply for SBI PO Recruitment 2020

- Candidates are required to register themselves online through the Bank’s website https://bank.sbi/careers or https://www.sbi.co.in/careers.
- After the registration process is completed, candidates are required to pay the requisite application fee through online mode by using debit card/ credit card/ Internet Banking.

- First, scan the photograph and signature as detailed under guidelines for scanning the photograph and signature.
- Visit the Bank’s website https://bank.sbi/careers or https://www.sbi.co.in/careers and open the Online Application Form, available under ‘Current Openings’.
- Fill the SBI PO application form carefully.
- After ensuring the correctness of the particulars of the application form, a candidate should pay fees through the payment gateway integrated with the application, by following the instructions available on the screen.
- The payment can be made by using debit card/ credit card/ Internet Banking by providing information as asked on the screen. Transaction charges for online payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates.
- On successful completion of the transaction, an e-receipt and application form will be generated, which may be printed for record. The printout of the application form is NOT to be sent to the Bank.
- If the online transaction is not successfully completed, please register again and make payment online.
- There is also a provision to reprint the e-Receipt and Application form containing fee details, at a later stage.
Guidelines for scanning the photograph & signature
Before applying online a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/ her/ their photograph and signature as per the specifications given in Annexure-II.
Photograph:
- The photograph must be a recent passport-style color picture taken against a light-colored, preferably white background.
- Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred)
- Size of file should be between 20kb–50 kb
Signature:
- The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.
- Dimensions 140 x 60 pixels (preferred)
- Size of file should be between 10kb to 20kb
