Some of the major achievements
Among the IWPA’s first achievements, the first direct connection between wind turbines and an electricity grid was established in 1999 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in the country’s south. In 2007, IWPA set up the first renewable energy development corporation in India, with 35% equity in Parter Capital Ltd. IWPA became the first institution to acquire a renewable energy platform in India in 2009 when IWPA acquired Welspun Renewables Ltd. Two years later, IWPA and three other industry bodies entered into a strategic alliance to form the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) in March 2011.
